Hebrews 2

1. Warning Against Neglecting Salvation (Hebrews 2:1-4): The author begins with a warning for the readers to pay careful attention to the message of salvation proclaimed by Jesus. Neglecting this salvation would result in severe consequences, as confirmed by witnesses, signs, and wonders, as well as the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
2. Jesus Made Lower Than Angels (Hebrews 2:5-9): The author reflects on the temporary humbling of Jesus, who, for a little while, was made lower than the angels. However, this was part of God's plan to exalt Him, and Jesus tasted death on behalf of everyone. His suffering and death paved the way for the salvation of humanity.
3. Jesus Identifies with Humanity (Hebrews 2:10-18): The chapter emphasizes the intimate connection between Jesus and humanity. Jesus, as the author of salvation, had to be made perfect through suffering. He identifies with His brothers and sisters, sharing in their humanity, so that through His death, He might destroy the power of death and free those who were held in slavery by the fear of death. Jesus became a merciful and faithful high priest.
4. Exhortation to Pay Attention (Hebrews 2:1-4, 5-18): The author returns to the theme of paying attention to the message of salvation.
