Luke 22



The chapter sets the stage for Jesus' crucifixion, emphasizing themes of betrayal, suffering, and the imminent sacrifice for humanity's salvation


  1. Plot Against Jesus (Luke 22:1-6): The religious leaders conspire to kill Jesus, and Judas agrees to betray him.
  2. Last Supper (Luke 22:7-23): Jesus celebrates the Passover with his disciples, institutes the Lord's Supper, and predicts his betrayal. Judas leaves to betray Jesus.
  3. Dispute Among Disciples (Luke 22:24-30): The disciples argue about greatness, and Jesus teaches humility and servant leadership.
  4. Peter's Denial Predicted (Luke 22:31-34): Jesus predicts Peter's denial three times before the rooster crows.
  5. Prayer in the Garden (Luke 22:39-46): Jesus agonizes in Gethsemane, and his disciples struggle to stay awake.
  6. Jesus' Arrest (Luke 22:47-53): Judas identifies Jesus with a kiss, and Jesus is arrested. Peter cuts off a servant's ear but is corrected by Jesus.
  7. Jesus Before Sanhedrin (Luke 22:54-71): Jesus faces the Sanhedrin, Peter denies him thrice, fulfilling Jesus' prediction.
