1. John the Baptist's Inquiry (Matthew 11:1-6): While John the Baptist is in prison, he sends his disciples to inquire whether Jesus is the Messiah. Jesus responds by pointing to the evidence of his healing miracles and instructs John's disciples to report back to John.
2. Jesus' Testimony about John (Matthew 11:7-19): Jesus speaks to the crowd about John the Baptist, affirming his importance as a prophet and the messenger preparing the way for the Messiah. Jesus criticizes the people for their fickle response to both John and himself.
